The McMichael Family, founders of Bay Pottery, have been making pottery for over thirty years. Their home and studios in the legendary Shenandoah Valley of Virginia are the fulfillment of a life’s dream. Working as a family on the creative projects they enjoy, they bring you innovative works in reduction high fired porcelain. At Bay Pottery they mix their own clay and lead-free glazes from recipes carefully formulated over the years. Bay’s unique functional designs are high fired to 2300 degrees F, making them sturdy, dense, oven safe and dishwasher safe. Throughout a twelve hour up firing, their kilns are carefully tended to achieve the beautiful reduction glazes for which Bay Pottery is known.
